| Wild Animal Park Video Wall | |
| The scope:
The Wild Animal Park wanted a 2X2 video wall to display their
new attractions. The screens needed to angle outward so
they could be seen by people as they entered the park.
They also needed to be very high off the ground so nobody could
bump their head. That meant they had to be tilted down.

The challenge: The TVs had to fit tight together for a true video wall appearance- no gaps allowed! Normally, you can use pre-fabricated video wall brackets, but since these TVs had to come off the wall and tilt down, the video wall brackets were out of the question. On top of that, the wall is not a straight surface. It has a significant curve to it, as can be seen in the picture. To add to the level of difficulty, the wall is thick stucco, not drywall. Stud finders can't find studs through a wall like that. |

The Solution: We decided to use 4 heavy-duty articulating mounts. This would allow the TVs to come off the wall and tilt down. That created another challenge though. With articulating mounts, all the work you do behind the TV is visible to the public, so there is no room for error. With a normal drywall surface that isn't a problem, but with thick stucco, it took a lot of careful planning. This is the first bracket on the wall with the holes cut for our communication cables and AC power. |

Next phase: After the four mounts were on the wall, we knew they had to be linked together or the TVs would be too hard to keep tight in place. Articulating mounts give a TV almost complete freedom of movement in any direction. We didn't want that. We wanted them to be four separate TVs that acted like one solid unit. Remember, these TVs couldn't have any gap between them and one rogue TV off-angle would ruin the look. To interconnect the mounts, we used a strong bracing material across the top and bottom of each mount. In the picture we only have the top braces on and the ladders are in the way. Hey, I'm an installer not a photographer, |

Two TVs are up with two more to go. We also have the communication cables pulled and the AC outlet installed. |

This is a quick view of what the wall
looks like behind the TVs (pre-clean up). It's a clean
install with no wall damage. Not to toot our own horn, but
I would love to see someone else pull that off. (TOOT TOOT!) |

The final product. It turned out
perfect. Total elapsed time:12 hours Since we had to do this project while the park was closed, it was an all-nighter. Special thanks to Robert for staying up all night with us. You're a trooper! |
